Hankelow Amenities Group - Annual Report - June 2007 to June 2008

Annual report from Val Morrey - Chair of the Group

9th June 2008

It's been another busy year for the Amenities Group

We are lucky at the moment to have a very hard working, enthusiastic group of people who have helped organise events in the village over the past year.

We held a Treasure Hunt in July 2007 which was a great success, as was the History Walk around the village on September 16th.

We had an Autumn Supper in the White Lion, with about 60 people attending.

The Carols on the Green went ahead as usual on December 17th and, considering the changes that had to be made at the last minute, the evening was a great success, being very well supported by both villagers and people from further afield. A collection of £85 was paid to St Luke's Hospice.

So far in 2008, we have had a guided tour around Monks Hall Farm by kind invitation of Janet and Angus Maughan. This event was not so well attended, but those who did attend enjoyed a very informative afternoon visiting a working dairy farm and learning more about the countryside.

Our next event is to be the Summer Fete on Sunday June 15th. We have the Cheshire Academy coming to give a gymnastic display, Saxophonie will be playing for us, and there will be lots of stalls plus games and sports for all ages. A donation from our proceeds will go to Mencap

Our balance at the moment is about £440. The aim of the group is not to make money, and what money we do make goes back into the village.

Our aim had always been to organise events that everyone can enjoy and help to keep our community spirit alive.
